
Constantly rising fuel prices have been making many fleet owners look harder at how they can offset the pain by finding real cost savings. Acorn Catering Equipment are one company who, in early 2006, decided it was time for action – and who are now enjoying the difference.
Acorn supply and service commercial catering equipment for local authorities, health trusts and private companies within a 50-mile radius of their base at Droitwich, near Worcester. They run a fleet of seven diesel vehicles – five vans for their service engineers, plus two cars – and typically spend £1100-1200 on fuel each month. Drivers had been using company credit cards to pay for refuelling, and this meant processing a lot of paperwork at the end of each month.
